The picnic was awesome as well. I am not sure of the final headcount, but there were lots of families and kids. For Jason's adoption we shared our court day with 4 other families. All were in attendance and it was great to see how well the kids and parents were doing.
Here's a picture of the place we stayed. It was very kid friendly with a nice swingset, huge sand box, and lots of videos. The place had excellent water access, cozy porches, and the neighbors are master landscapers. It's for sale, if anyone is looking for lake property in North Carolina.
This was not one of my better photo taking trips. I did not really get many pictures from the picnic or our stay with Lori and Antoine, but here are a few to share.
This is Emily and Will. They live in South Carolina and their mom is Christine. Will is the same age as Jason and was adopted on the same day as our guy. Emily was adopted from the same orphanage as Jason's a few years before Will. We hope to get together with Christine in Knoxville sometime, since we both have family there and would be a good halfway point for all of us.
This young lady is Masha. She lives in North Carolina with her mom Ann. Masha and Jason flew home to America on the same flight and therefore share the same citizenship day. Masha was very kind to Jason on that flight by sharing a stuffed cat with him.
It is difficult to get five kids to focus on the same thing and smiling at the same time, but we tried. Here are Evan, Simone, Will, Jason, and Emily. All but Emily were adopted on the same day. Evan celebrated his third birthday on the same day as the picnic!
After the picnic we spent the next couple days enjoying the place we had rented. Here are Claire and Grace picking out something to watch.
Maybe Lori's version turned out better and I can replace ours with her's.
After this picture was a long, long, car ride. Please watch the following short video clip. No commentary is necessary.
With our return home we have tried to settle back into real life. Since April 12 only one week has gone by with all of us healthy. Wendy and I are the ones struggling now. Three of those weekends we have been out of town. I really want things to settle down for a little bit so that we can catch our breaths and stay healthy.
With that in mind this weekend has been all about staying home and doing things in town. Jason has been constantly asking me to "see big rockets again, please???" so on Friday I took him to the Space and Rocket Center and let him run around the Saturn V again. His next favorite place to go is the train depot museum that is in downtown Huntsville. We managed to squeeze a visit in there between some of our trips. He loves to ride the trolley there and sit on the fire truck, but gets a little scared when daddy plays the siren too loud.
Today Grace got to experience her first shuttle launch the way Daddy likes them (which means really, really, loud on the surround sound speakers). The previous missions since she has been home came at night or when I was at work. She loved it! I was so proud she enjoyed it.
