My Car Magnet Strikes Again!

Long time readers of this blog will surely know by now that my mailbox has an extreme liking to getting hit by cars. I have posted so much on the subject I have created a label called "mailbox whack". Click on this link to see all the posts: mailbox whack link

Today marks the sixth time it has been hit. This particular whack resulted in a completely shattered mirror for someone. Nice job whoever you are! They decided to make haste from the scene without letting us know what happened. They left a nice amount of side mirror shards in the street and my driveway for me to pick up. Thanks whoever you are! Appreciated that!

I don't think that it was the neighbor whose family was responsible for two prior whacks. Both times he has replaced my box so I would expect him to do it again.

The ironic thing that made me laugh was the part of the mirror that was stamped "Ojbects in Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear" was mostly intact in my driveway. Maybe it should have said "Mailboxes in Mirror Are Tougher Than You Think!" That might have been more helpful.

My mailbox actually faired pretty well. I think this is the third whack for this one. The jimmy-rigging attachment method employed now results in a box that is able to withstand most whacks without major damage. It is slightly bent and does not close all the way, but five minutes of my time will get it back into condition.

I guess there are worse things in life, but I have about had enough of this particular annoyance. Normally it happens around the time of big adoption news, so I have started to take it as an omen but there is no adoption going on now. Seriously, there isn't unless Wendy is doing a home study behind my back. Hmmm...

Does anyone know a NTSB representative who can help me reconstruct these accidents? I should keep them on retainer...

Oh, did she fill that application out in pencil thinking it was protection enough? ;) You have seen that "Accidental Adoption" thing haven't you?

Seriously though, your poor mailbox! Our old house had this happen once or twice...and we were in the middle of the street.

For us, we have an invisibility shield on our car. Other cars just do not see us - defensive driving is our friend!
