We have landed!

We have arrived in Moscow and the Hotel Ukraine! The hotel has a business center so we should be able to post occasionally from here.

The day got off to a good start with our friends Matt and Amy Smith taking us to the airport. Once we got our tickets punched, we were met just before the security checkpoint by Margie Ligon and her son JT. What a great way to get us sent off.

We had a few nervous moments in Huntsville, as the plane was WICKED late. Good thing we had a nice layover in Atlanta before the Moscow flight. We ate into that layover pretty well.

Our arrival in Moscow was met with a dark cloud hanging over Russia. The beloved Russian hockey team lost to Finland 4-0 in the Olympics. It was all our translator and driver Tanya and Vladimir could say. Hopefully it doesn't affect the mood of the people too much while we are here.

The hotel room is on the ninth floor with a beautiful scenic view of the Russian White House and a frozen Moscow River. There's LOTS of snow here! The snow boots were a wise choice. Now, the White House isn't quite like the USA White House. Instead of a Presidential residence it is the Prime Minister's offices. During some turmoil in 1993, you may recall some tanks blasting it. Our room would have been the place to be that day.

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. We are excited to be here. I'll try to post a couple pics, but for now that's all from Moscow.

Love,

Jason & Wendy
