After all this time, each step of the way I feel more and more connected with the story of Tom Stafford getting help from Alexei Leonov adopting. It turns out that General Stafford used OUR agency for his adoption...Amazing...We just found that out today.
We had a great second visit with Jason today. He was a little more verbal and recognized us. He smiled the first time he heard his new name...Wow! We'll definitely miss him the next few weeks, but he is in good care, not as good as ours of course, but the people at Vidnoye orphanage are nice.
The gift to the orphans was very appreciated. The items were divided among the five groups of children at the home. There are over 100 living at the orphanage, ranging in age from newborn to five years old.
There are enough stories and pics from this week to cover a dozen posts, but I'll wait to start those until we get home. It has been quite a time, and in some ways it hasn't quite sunk in what has happened. We are relieved to have completed this lap of our journey. We still have a couple more to go before Jason is home -- and that is what we are focused on. Our relief won't be total until that occurs.
Tomorrow we fly out of Moscow around 12:30 local time. We'll get back to Huntsville around 5:30 Alabama time. It will be a long -- and short -- day all at the same time.
Signing off from Moscow...
love,
Jason & Wendy
