Room Pictures

Here's some of the "evidence" we'll be showing in court next week. There will be a judge and prosecutor. That must make us the defense. What we are being accused of, I am not exactly sure. If we are convicted, will we be guilty of wanting to adopt? Pleading insanity is probably not a good strategy.

The first picture is of me putting the crib together 13 months ago. We ordered the crib and changing table early in 2005 expecting to complete the adoption last year. I assembled them to make sure the parts were all there. Notice the old color of the room. That was leftover from the previous owners. It was a young girl's room. We always referred to the room as the "pink room." For a while I exercised in there, really manly exercising in a pink room. Oh well.

The next picture is of Wendy painting the wainscoting. Notice the blooming azalea through the window. During Wendy's baby shower a few weeks ago, some of Wendy's family and my friend Matt Smith came over to help put up the wainscoting. There are not any pictures of us working on it from that day. The camera was at Matt's house because his wife Amy was hosting the shower.
After the wainscoting was nailed up, we had to finish it. That entailed lots of priming and sanding and priming and sanding. The finish really looks good. It's nice and smooth.

The final step was to trim out the room. We put a shelf along one wall. I'm sure Jason Alexei will enjoy yanking stuff down once he gets big enough. Here's the completed room. You can click on the pictures to make them full-size. Can you identify the items on the shelf? Almost all of them have meaning. Where the bi-plane is currently sitting, we are going to put a rocker. That reminds me, we need to order it soon!

Hopefully the judge likes this "evidence". A lot of time was spent on it! It certainly is a relief to know our son has a place of his own now. He just has to get home to start enjoying it.
